Bæredygtighed

NSK Nakanishi Foundation provides scholarships that don’t require repayment allowing dental students to study without anxiety.

Our bodies and lives are dependent on the food we consume every day. Our mouths, which food enters the body, sustains life. Protecting our oral health is the secret to protecting the health of our entire body. Dentists are experts in protecting our oral health. Fostering dentists with a world-class level of awareness, knowledge and skills is an important mission for NSK too.

NSK Nakanishi Foundation was established as a general incorporated foundation on October 12, 2016 (transitioned to a public interest incorporated foundation in 2018), and supports dental students by providing scholarships to outstanding students who will go on to lead dental healthcare of the future. The funds target undergraduate and graduate students resident in Japan studying or engaged in research on dentistry. The scholarships do not require repayment, allowing students to devote themselves to their studies with passion. In FY2024, 40 scholarship students were selected, bringing the current total to 140 (cumulative total of 284) as of April 2024.

Furthermore, two new projects were launched in August 2023.

(1) Research and Development Subsidy Program
A subsidy is being provided for researching and developing medical equipment in the fields of implant treatment, periodontal disease treatment and neurosurgery (spinal cord). This program supports the development of more advanced treatment methods and diagnostic techniques.

(2) Overseas Study Support Program
An overseas study support program is provided for researchers who wish to study advanced dental healthcare abroad. The funds target undergraduate and graduate students that are Japanese residents and are studying or engaged in research in dentistry.

Eleven individuals were selected for the Research and Development Subsidy Program, while one researcher was selected for the Overseas Study Support Program in FY2024. It is the first time for these programs to be implemented.

In the future, these initiatives will enhance the health of people around the world through dental and surgical medicine, and help establish the foundations for a stable healthcare system.
